Good Morning!
I am a junior at Columbia College majoring history and East Asian studies. I was born in Shanghai, China. Growing up, I loved to watch Japanese animate and read Japanese books. A part of me always wanted to learn the language. Since I am an East Asian major, I need to take one year of language which I immediately decided to learn Japanese.
I love the class and Nishida Sensei. I found the class very interesting and I already learned a lot. The most challenge part of the class would be converting romaji words into hiragana which I need to use a lot of time to think over before I can understand it. Certainly, I need to practice more and, hopefully, soon I can read hiragana smoothly.
Totoro is my favorite cartoon character.
Sincerely
Helen Zhang
おはよう!Your Japanese is great! I have never been to China, but I have a Chinese friend from high school. I want to visit China one day. What is your favorite Japanese book?
